Church of Saint Stephen
Saint Stephen, our Patron Saint
Saint Stephen, our Patron Saint
St. Stephen was one of the first deacons in the church. He distributed funds and food to the Christians. He prayed over them and laid hands on them.
St. Stephen taught us about witnessing, forgiveness, and death. He served the needy, the widows, and the orphans. He lived the life of Christian love to the fullest.
He showed that God could be found everywhere, not just in the Temple or just in a single person. He explained how the Israelites had rejected God's messengers, the prophets, and God's Son, Jesus.
St. Stephen was stoned to death for his beliefs and for standing up for what he believed. He prayed for the Father to forgive those who were persecuting him.
St. Stephen was the first person to be killed for Christ, the first martyr.
St. Stephen is the patron of deacons, bricklayers, and stonemasons.
